Better focuses on a whole food plant-based diet for the treatment of chronic conditions, including type 2 diabetes. While the dietary approach is rich in carbohydrates, the complex carbohydrates found in whole plant foods like legumes, whole grains, and fruits are used differently by our bodies than the simple carbohydrates found in things like processed foods and refined grains. There is a large body of evidence to show that a diet rich in these types of highly nutritious whole plant foods treat the underlying causes of diabetes.
