Stress can play a big role in keeping you from living the life that you want to live and making changes that will improve your health. Having effective stress management strategies to help manage work, family and health related stress is an important component of making lifestyle changes.
What stress management techniques have worked for you in the past? What resources, support, ideas do you have available to you in your environment?
Oftentimes a good place to start is with developing an awareness of these feelings and understanding what you have been doing that is or isn’t working. Make a list of all of the things that you can do when you are stressed that you think may help. Now make a list of all the things that you currently do to manage your stress.
Circle the ones that have been working for you and bring attention to the ones that aren’t working for you. This is not an exercise to make you feel bad about the ways in which you have been coping. Instead, it is to bring awareness in a non-judgmental way. Recognize what may not be serving you in managing your stress.
